And indeed it is ancient, since it was built in the XIV century. When enemies were attacking, all the valuables from all over the country were brought to this place. The locals believe that it’s saint and actually magical. And this is really unexplainable and indescribable experience when you get up there to the church. You literally smell the the spirit of antiquity. Even though there are lots of tourists there, parishioners and church workers look like they still live in the older days. This place made a strong impression on me. It’s a pity the time was limited, but I’m happy I got the chance to see and actually visit it. It’s a perfect place to just sit, relax, reflect, and think about eternity. The best way to get there is definitely by car. The car will get you to the foot of Mount Kazbek and from there you can either walk or hire a van that will take you right to your destination.
