Lake Gregory

Lake Gregory is located in the heart of the tea country of Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. The lake was constructed in 1873 and named after the then Governor of Sri Lanka, the British Sir William Gregory. The lake and the surrounding area make up the Lake Gregory region. The lake covers an area of 91.2 hectares and has a beautiful environment, especially in the early morning and evening when a large number of wild birds gather here, creating a beautiful ecological environment. There are many accommodation, dining, and entertainment facilities around the lake, where you can experience horse riding or water activities, and it is also a popular leisure and entertainment spot for locals. Lake Gregory is the largest lake in the town center, with a collection of boutique accommodations, dining, and outdoor activity venues around it. In the morning and evening, the lakeside is crowded with a large number of wild birds, offering a first-class ecological environment, and it is the core area of Nuwara Eliya, a beloved leisure and entertainment spot for locals. Lake Gregory is quite large, and you can lie on the lawn by the lake to rest and enjoy the rare tranquility.
