[Songkhla, Thailand] Songkhla National Museum

I went to the Songkhla National Museum in Songkhla, about 40 minutes by car from Hat Yai. I learned through the exhibits that Songkhla was a trading hub connecting Asia and Europe because it was home to many Chinese people and flourished as a free port with no customs duties. Due to its favorable geographical location, it has had exchanges with various ethnic groups and religions, bringing about diverse cultures, but it also seems that it was the landing point of the Japanese army during the last war, resulting in many casualties. I didn't know about Songkhla's history until I visited, but I thought the exhibits were full of things that Japanese people should know. The unique culture of Songkhla, where Chinese, Siamese, Malaccan, Javanese, Islamic, and European cultures intertwine, is very interesting. People who like history will be very satisfied. The admission fee for foreigners is 150 THB.
