Ljubljana

Ljubljana is the capital and political, cultural center of the Republic of Slovenia. Located in the northwest, on the upper reaches of the Sava River, it is surrounded by mountains and often shrouded in thick fog. The city is the seat of the central government of Slovenia, its various departments, the parliament, and the president. Due to advantages in transportation links, industrial concentration, research institutions, and industrial traditions, the city holds the leading economic position in Slovenia.
