Ubon Ratchathani, a province with two capital cities

17-18 April After Songkran, intend to travel to Ubon Ratchathani. Plan your trip well, travel without straining your legs. Start by taking the special express train, focus on sleeping comfortably so you will have energy to travel. Leave Bangkok at 9:00 PM. Get on the train and go to sleep. Sleep and wake up half-awake. Arrive at the destination at Ubon Ratchathani Station at 6:40 AM. The station is in Warin Chamrap District, which is strange because it is not in Mueang District like every province. Wait for the time to pick up the car and drop it off at 7:00 AM. On the morning of the 17th, after receiving the car, the first goal is to worship Buddha for good luck and auspicious time. Go to Wat Don That, Phibun Mangsahan District. It is a temple on an island in the middle of the Mun River. It is an old temple. It is the residence of Luang Pu Sao (Luang Pu Man's teacher). When going to the temple, you have to go to the pier. There will be a boat waiting to take you back and forth. The service fee is up to you. It is a service provided by the villagers who come to do business with the temple. We went on a weekday. There were few people. It was peaceful and cool. When we got to the island, we saw peacocks dancing to welcome us. Walk a bit to see the nature and you will see the monk's hut and the pagoda that was built to store the monk's belongings and is like a museum to keep the monk's things for the next generation to admire. Bring flowers, incense, and candles to worship the statue, sit and relax, cool down, relieve the heat. The whole temple is very quiet. If you want to find peace, I recommend it. After a while, we had another plan, so we had to walk back to the pier. There was another group of people who came to make merit and were crossing to the temple as well. We smiled at each other a little and then took a boat back from the island. While crossing, I asked the boat driver who said that there were 9 monks at the temple. 🕰️bOpening hours: There were some more people who came to practice Dhamma (dressed in white). On weekdays, there are fewer people, but on holidays, there are many more people crossing. We reached the shore safely. We looked back at the temple and told ourselves that we must find another chance to come back. After leaving Wat Don That, we traveled to Pak Mun Dam (a restricted area), but we were disappointed, so we talked to the security guard who recommended going to Kaeng Tana, which was just a short drive away. It was as beautiful as he had recommended. There was a small, stylish suspension bridge for taking beautiful pictures. There was a young man named Khua Ya who was an officer of Kaeng Tana National Park. I am glad for the Royal Forest Department that they have quality people in the public service agency. After walking enough to sweat at the park, we headed to Wat Phu Phrao, a beautiful temple that anyone who comes to Ubon must see. We went in the afternoon, the sun was very hot, we didn't stay until the evening to see the light and shadow as people reviewed. It was such a pity, but we had plans to continue to Sirindhorn Dam, passing by the Two-Color River viewpoint, and then sit and drink coffee to cool off in the city.
