Jiak Kim Bridge

#localhistory Jiak Kim Bridge/Kim Seng Park Address: River Valley Green, Singapore 237993 The bridge at Kim Seng Park is known as Jiak Kim bridge and you can cross this pedestrian/cyclist bridge from both sides of the river. The name of this bridge is derived from “Tan Jiak Kim, grandson of famous merchant and philanthropist Tan Kim Seng and son of Tan Beng Swee. He is also a prominent Straits-born Chinese merchant and political activist during the early 19th century.” This area is known as the River Valley. You can easily walk to Zion Road Food Centre and Great World City Shopping Centre. Jiak Kim bridge was opened in 1999 and once you cross the bridge, you will arrive at Kim Seng Park. As to why it is called Kim Seng Park, the naming is very clear, it is after the famous philanthropist. Kim Seng Park is a nature playgarden by the River.
