Manatee Mania 😍😍😍

#moreinsg Feeding these manatees was sheer delight to me. These gentle giants usually spend up to 8 hours each day grazing on sea grasses and other aquatic plants, easily consuming up to 9 percent of its average body weight (362 to 544 kg!) and thus earning their reputation as “sea cows”. As we headed into the feeding area, armed with trays of vegetables & manatee treats and geared up in waterproof overalls with boots, the entire herd of manatees began gathering around where we were stationed at and patiently waited in a neat row for us to dish out their food 🥦🥕 Each adorable manatee chomped on the greens as soon as we placed them within reach of their mouths, and all seemed perpetually hungry no matter how much we fed them 😂 thanks to the friendly manatee keepers, we gained knowledgeable insight into their behaviour and even learnt a couple of tricks such as tapping twice near their noses for them to open their nostrils and inhale air, as well as patting their sides for them to flip belly-up 😍😍😍
