Wat Pho Kao Ton 🍃🙏🏻

Located in Village No. 8, Bang Rachan Subdistrict, opposite the Bang Rachan Heroes Monument, approximately 15 kilometers from the city, Highway No. 3032, is a place where the heroes of Bang Rachan used as a stronghold to resist the Burmese who invaded Ayutthaya in 1765. In addition to the Burmese moat, in Sing Buri Province, there is also Wat Pho Kao Ton or Wat Mai Daeng, which played a very important role in the past when the Bang Rachan villagers sacrificed their blood to protect Thailand. Therefore, this temple is very old, sacred, and is interesting historical evidence. The Fine Arts Department has registered the temple as an ancient site since 1955. In the past, the villagers called this temple Wat Mai Daeng because there were many red trees growing in the temple area. It was believed that these red trees were sacred trees that no one dared to cut down. There used to be a red tree that was over 200 years old standing dead inside the temple. However, the true significance of Wat Pho Kao Ton in the past was that it was The place where the Bang Rachan villagers used to be a stronghold to fight the Burmese army when they invaded Ayutthaya in 1765. Currently, a replica of the camp has been built in front of the temple. Inside, there is also a shrine to Phra Ajahn Thammachot or Luang Pho Yim, a monk who was the villagers’ refuge during wartime. Even today, Phra Ajahn Thammachat is still highly revered by the people of Sing Buri Province.
