Sikhoraphum stone castle

Prasat Sikhoraphum is built of brick, sandstone and laterite. It consists of 5 brick castles facing east. The plan is square with 1 main castle in the middle and 4 subsidiary castles in 4 directions. All are built on the same laterite base and surrounded by ponds except for the front and back entrances. This castle is a religious site built in the Hindu religion, Shaivism sect. It was later converted into a Buddhist temple. There is evidence of restoration and renovation around the 22nd-23rd Buddhist century in the late Ayutthaya period. From the pattern on the pillars, door frames and lintels, Prasat Sikhoraphum is in the Khmer art style of Bapuan (1560-1630) and Angkor Wat (1650-1720).
