Shiraz is an ancient city that was the capital of the Zand dynasty of Persia in the 18th century, and is now a world-famous tourist destination. It's surprising that such a city has a subway! You can travel conveniently from Karim Khan Fort, the landmark of the old city, to Eram Gardens by subway. The entrance on the ground has an ancient ruins-like design, but once inside, you'll be surprised at how modern and luxurious it is, like a modern palace!? It's a must-see for subway freaks... In fact, Shiraz may seem like just a tourist city, but it's actually a major base for Iran's electrical industry and oil refining. Still, it's a real surprise to me, as I never imagined there would be a subway in the ancient city that is the base for Persepolis tourism...
