The natural beaches of Dapeng Peninsula in Shenzhen

These beaches are yet to be overdeveloped, preserving their natural beauty. Natural coastlines are becoming increasingly rare in coastal China. Outside of a few protected areas, they have almost entirely disappeared from Hainan Island. Firstly, monotonous casuarina windbreaks abruptly separate the coastal foothills from the seashore, disrupting the natural transition. Secondly, real estate development and ground hardening have severely damaged intertidal habitats. However, scenes like the one pictured, showcasing "the world as it should be," can still be found along the eastern coastline of Shenzhen. These areas undoubtedly represent the city's most precious habitats and natural heritage.
