The delicious pastries from the Mandarin Cake Shop were even more impressive than those I had tried in Guangzhou. I could order room service using a tablet, which was great for someone with social anxiety. The soft slippers were so comfortable that I didn't want to take them off. Of course, there were some minor drawbacks. For a price of 3,000 CNY per night, the toiletries were still diptyque, and the towels were a bit rough. But these small flaws didn't affect my love for the hotel. The Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen, is like a low-key yet sophisticated gentleman, with more and more charm the more you get to know him.
