The Shenyang Imperial Palace, also known as Shengjing Imperial Palace, is located in Shenhe District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. It is one of only two remaining imperial palace complexes in China. Based on its architectural layout and construction timeline, the Shenyang Imperial Palace can be divided into three sections: East, Middle, and West. The Grand Ceremonial Hall (Da Zheng Dian) and the Ten Kings Pavilions (Shi Wang Ting) on the east side were used for grand ceremonies and as offices for the Eight Banner ministers. The middle section was built during the reign of Hong Taiji, the second emperor of the Qing Dynasty, and served as the main living quarters for the emperor, his consorts, and concubines. The west section was used for reading, watching plays, and storing the Siku Quanshu, a vast collection of Chinese texts, during imperial visits to Shengjing. The Shenyang Imperial Palace is also recognized for its intangible cultural heritage. There's now a free viewing platform nearby, offering a spectacular panoramic view of the entire palace. And yes, it's free! It takes approximately two hours to tour the entire palace. Each palace is worth exploring, as they all hold fascinating stories.
