Jigongjian in Shangfeng, a hidden gem in Huizhou, is a must-visit for autumn foliage and persimmons. Jigongjian, also known as Jichuan Village, is a 500-year-old village in Shangfeng, Shexian County, just a 20-minute drive from the county seat. Thanks to the soft and fertile weathered granite soil and unique climate, flowers and fruits grow here all year round, earning it the nickname "Land of Flowers and Fruits" in Huangshan. Among them, persimmons are the most famous. Jigongjian persimmons have a long history, dating back to the 15th year of the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Every household in the village has persimmon trees. Every autumn, when the persimmons are harvested, whether eaten fresh or as newly made persimmon cakes, the persimmons here are always worth the trip. As recorded in the Republic of China "Shexian County Chronicle": "The persimmons produced in Jigongjian, Shidu, are the most beautiful, and the method of making persimmon cakes is also good." Therefore, when admiring the autumn colors of Huizhou, people in the surrounding area love to visit Jigongjian. After a winding and colorful mountain road, arriving at the village is like entering a paradise of persimmons. As far as the eye can see, the mountains and fields, white walls, and black tiles are filled with plump and abundant orange-red persimmons. Walking among them, the persimmons hanging on the branches are round and lovely, or you can see strings of persimmon cakes drying in the sun, shining golden. Delicious and visible, they are also a good choice as a souvenir.
