Xu Wei's Hometown - A New Cultural Landmark in Shaoxing

Xu Wei is a dazzling pearl in the history of Chinese painting and calligraphy, and his hometown, where he once lived, is the birthplace of the 'Qingteng School of Painting.' Here, you can find the Xu Wei Art Museum, Qingteng Study, and Shaoxing Shiye Pavilion, making it a new cultural landmark in Shaoxing. Xu Wei Art Museum: Located in Houguan Alley, Yuecheng District, this place features corner-raising buildings and open gardens, with black tiles like ink and a harmonious blend of roof and ground, creating a rhythmic, flowing space suitable for contemporary art exhibitions. The first floor hosts a permanent exhibition titled 'Pearl Under the Brush - Xu Wei Over Five Hundred Years,' showcasing the turbulent life and achievements of Xu Wei. There is also a digital exhibition hall that uses multimedia sound, light, and electricity technology to provide an immersive experience of a dialogue across time and space between Xu Wei and Van Gogh. Qingteng Study: Located in Qiangguan Alley, Yuecheng District, it is the birthplace and study place of Xu Wei, an outstanding painter, calligrapher, and writer of the Ming Dynasty. The courtyard features the Tianchi, Shutang Pavilion, and Zizai Rock, all relics from the Ming Dynasty. It is now a national key cultural relic protection unit. Shaoxing Shiye Pavilion: The exhibitions here focus on the theme of Shaoxing Shiye, showcasing this unique group of wise men from five perspectives: origin and evolution, categories and characteristics, academic and traveling secretaries, 'No Shaoxing, No Yamen,' and research and utilization. The unique Shiye culture is fully displayed in the Shaoxing Shiye Pavilion.
