Shantou Mayu Island Laomagong

Laomagong Built in the Yuan Dynasty (1271–1368), it is one of the earliest Mazu temples along the eastern coast of Guangdong. It was expanded by He Binchen, the deputy general of Nan'ao in the 48th year of the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. The stele he wrote is a treasure of Mazu temple history and has been re-engraved and embedded in the wall. It was rebuilt in the 11th year of the Xianfeng period, expanded in 1928, repaired with donations from Hong Kong compatriots in 1984, and rebuilt on the birthday of Mazu in 1993. The temple covers an area of 335 square meters and is magnificent, elegant, and splendid. It also has a stone archway, a grand stage, a stone carving of the God of Longevity, pavilions, a stele gallery, and a three-dimensional ceramic tile platform.
