Today I'm sharing a special place: the Martyrs' Cemetery and Dong Cunrui.

• Location: Located at the foot of Taishan Mountain on the east bank of the Yixun River, northwest of Longhua County, Chengde City, Hebei Province. • Construction time: Built in 1954 to commemorate the martyr Dong Cunrui on the site of the old palace of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty on the Boluo River. • Built in 1961, it imitates the archway of the Martyrs' Cemetery of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army in North Korea, with a height of 7.5 meters. The archway is inscribed with the six golden characters "Long live the martyrs who died". • Martyr statue: At the intersection of the two diagonals between the pavilions, the statue of the martyr Dong Cunrui is surrounded by cypress trees. The hero is dressed in military uniform, with his head held high and his chest out. His left hand is holding a bag of explosives, and his right hand is clenched into a fist, recreating his heroic spirit of facing death without fear. • Martyrs' Monument: It was first built in 1957 and expanded in 1987. The monument is 15.5 meters high and covers an area of 440 square meters. The base and body of the monument are decorated with gray-green artificial marble slabs. The top of the monument is inlaid with a five-pointed star with a diameter of 0.6 meters. The four pieces of Han white jade stone in the center of the monument, with a total length of 6.6 meters, are engraved with the inscription "Sacrifice for the country, immortal" by Marshal Zhu De. • Rebuilt in 2008, the building has an area of 2,300 square meters. It is a single-story frame structure in an antique style. There are 8 exhibition halls in the museum, which tell the glorious life of Dong Cunrui through sound, light, electricity, and projection technology. • National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base, Central State Organ Ideological Education Base, National Key Martyrs Memorial Building Protection Unit, First Batch of National Defense Education Demonstration Bases, Top 100 National Red Tourism Classic Scenic Spots, National AAAA Tourist Scenic Spot. • In the 65 years since the park was built, it has received more than 12 million visitors, making it an important place for people to receive patriotic education, national defense education, clean government education, and revolutionary tradition education, and it is also a window to showcase the image of Longhua. • Opening hours: • Summer (June 1 - August 31): 8:30-11:30 in the morning, 14:30-17:00 in the afternoon. • Winter (September 1 - May 31 of the following year): 8:30-11:30 in the morning, 13:30-17:00 in the afternoon. • Ticket information: Free admission, enter the museum with your ID card or valid ID. • Free explanation time: 9:30 and 10:30 in the morning, 14:30 and 15:30 in the afternoon.
