Traveling the road (G214/G215) around the snow-capped MeiLi mountains in Shangri-La is truly memorable. There are outstanding views around every corner, wild animals roaming free, and quiet villages to explore. The roads are winding, well kept, and a joy to drive. There isn't many cars, and lots of views points to rest, buy snacks, or use the restrooms. Driving around took about 5 hours, but it felt much quicker.
