Tiger Leaping Gorge. The name is at once enticing and thrilling. Located in Yunnan, about midway between Lijiang and Shangri-la, this is where to come to see snow-capped mountains, steep cliffs, raging waters and soaring eagles. Hike along an ancient switchbacked trail and breathe the mountain air. Stop to rest in minority villages clinging to the canyon walls amongst steeply terraced fields.
