The West Bund Art Museum is also worth a visit, especially when combined with the nearby Shanghai Center of Photography, housed in a former factory hall. Surrounding the center, you'll find individual shipping containers and buildings housing a variety of galleries and studios, each with its own charm. Most areas are free to enter, but some galleries may require admission. If you happen to be in the area, this is a perfect place to spend a leisurely afternoon. The overall atmosphere is pleasant, laid-back, and comfortable.
