Shanghai Youth Hostel experience, like staying in a vintage villa

Feeling safe and comfortable is the foundation for a girls' trip. The entire building is for women, which made us especially relaxed. At night, wearing pajamas and slippers, chatting in the lobby or going to shower, we didn’t have to worry at all. The room wasn’t big, but it was warmly and neatly decorated. The bedding was soft and clean, very comfortable to sleep on. The blackout curtains were very effective; once drawn, the room was pitch dark. We rarely slept in until almost 9 a.m., and it was such a luxury to lounge in bed during the holiday. The environment is exquisitely vintage style, with thoughtful details. The lobby features a warm-toned European design, with dark green velvet sofas, dark wooden furniture, and a carved spiral staircase. There was even an old piano in the corner that you could play. The whole place was well maintained and very clean, with shiny floors and dust-free furniture. My girlfriends loved it and said, “This place has a lot of style; any photo you take looks great.” When the lighting was good, we took a few photos with our phones, and the results were really nice. The price is truly worth it, saving money means more to spend on good food. Around 80 RMB per person to stay in such a place in the heart of Jing’an Temple area felt very worthwhile. The money saved on the hotel budget gave us the confidence to try the brunch spots we wanted and even buy a nice cup of coffee each, without skimping on our accommodation. The location is super convenient, saving time and energy. Just a 3-5 minute walk from the door to the subway station, and the high-speed rail station is nearby too. It’s close to walkable places like Wukang Road and Anfu Road, and taking a taxi or subway is very convenient. When tired from sightseeing, we could quickly return to rest. Other small bonuses: The front desk lady was friendly and helped carry our luggage when she saw us struggling. The common area has a water dispenser and microwave, very convenient for heating up a late-night snack.
