As the only habitable heritage building in Zhujiajiao, the Jingtin Inn perfectly blends a profound sense of history with modern comfort. During the restoration, the designer strictly adhered to the principle of "restoring the old as the old," preserving the original three-courtyard layout, carved gate tower, and weathered brick walls. On the bluestone door frame at the entrance, the characters "Jingtin" are bold and powerful. The moment you push open the door, it feels like traveling through a time tunnel. The guest rooms retain the traditional wooden beam structure intact. Italian-imported bedding contrasts interestingly with locally handwoven homespun fabric, while contemporary German bathroom fixtures coexist harmoniously with old elm wood washbasins. Every detail shows craftsmanship: the purple clay tea set at the bedside is from Yixing, the bathroom amenities feature Shanghai Bund brand Chinese-style fragrances, and the minibar is stocked with Zhujiajiao specialties like cured meat and glutinous rice cakes. Breakfast includes shepherd’s purse wontons with freshly ground soy milk, cold mixed Malantou greens, and mung bean lily porridge, along with crab roe soup dumplings. For main meals, silverfish steamed egg and clear water river shrimp are recommended, served in blue and white porcelain, enjoyed in a riverside private room for a unique flavor. The library houses a large collection of precious books on Jiangnan architecture and folk customs; a small museum displays Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain fragments unearthed here; professional photographers can be booked to shoot vintage-style portraits inside the ancient house, dressed in qipao or changshan. Stepping out of Jingtin Inn, you find yourself on Caohe Street, the best-preserved street in Zhujiajiao. Unlike the bustling main scenic area of the ancient town, this stone-paved street is quiet and winding, flanked by authentic scenes of local residents’ daily life.
