【Dishui Lake】Planetarium Theme Stargazing HOTEL

Let's follow each other, fellow travelers! This is my second time choosing InterContinental this year. This stay includes 2 room types (Deluxe Balcony Room & Planetarium Theme Room). This review is about the latter. 1) Location: The hotel is situated on the south island of Dishui Lake, boasting a 120-degree lake view, with the Gemini Towers “Double 11” fully in sight, definitely the top lakeside spot. The hotel’s infinity pool is the best place to watch the fireworks show every Saturday. The hotel is about 2.5 km (35-minute walk) from Dishui Lake Metro Station on Line 16, about 2.5 km (40-minute walk) from the China Maritime Museum, and about 4 km (1-hour walk) from the Shanghai Planetarium. 2) Environment: The hotel is composed of five petal-shaped sections (A, B, C, D, E), with 281 rooms distributed among the five “petals.” This stay was in a themed room on the first floor of section C. 3) Facilities: The themed room is located in (my personal opinion) the best petal! The theme atmosphere is full-on! 🈶 Astronomical telescope 🔭, starry sky mood lights, astronaut 🧑‍🚀 figurines, planet cartoon hugging pillows, plus a DIY Lego wall, haha 😄 definitely a secret base for kids & big boys. The room’s soundproofing is excellent! The layout is spacious and bright, the decor and maintenance are quite new overall (furniture is reasonably/compactly arranged), the bed is large, wide, and medium-firm, pillows vary in height and firmness and are acceptable, bedding feels delicate and soft (great for sleeping). The bathroom has a dry-wet separation, perfect for a {bath salt soak}, starting with Swedish fragrance brand Byredo bath products. The built-in courtyard bathes in sunlight during the day and offers stargazing at night. Other amenities include a kettle, coffee machine, safe, mini fridge, smart electronic clock, and more. 4) Service: This time, the butler Danae was excellent (praise), taking great care of this big boy, warm service, and meticulous work. 5) Food: Breakfast starts at 7:00 AM, including Chinese and Western dishes (not very abundant), with more carb-heavy items, which is not very friendly for someone like me who doesn’t do well with carbs! There are also few local Nanhui specialties, but the dishes taste okay. The dining areas are quite spread out (not very logical in layout). 【Summary】: The themed room has top-notch design, beautiful environment, solid facilities, and satisfactory service. The price is a bit high but acceptable. The only suggestion is to improve the variety and quality of breakfast dishes! It would be great to provide (personally) bath/shower and skincare products!
