In previous years, the magnolia grove between Qiao Coffee and KFC on the West Bund would have been a sea of white and purple, the air filled with a delicate fragrance. However, today's magnolia grove was a bit of a disappointment. Most of the branches still held tightly closed buds, like little velvet fists stubbornly resisting the lingering chill. The few blossoms that had begun to open seemed hesitant, as if still unsure whether to fully unfurl. A splash of fresh green caught my eye—several snowball viburnums, their tightly clustered flowers forming emerald orbs, glistening after the rain. The sight of this vibrant greenery gradually replaced my disappointment with delight. Sitting inside KFC, a burst of gold came into view. Across the street, winter jasmine on the wall had bloomed unnoticed, its slender branches cascading like a waterfall, dotted with tiny yellow flowers swaying gently in the breeze. Each blossom resembled a tiny bell, as if playing the prelude to spring. The air after the rain was especially fresh, and the walk along the river was particularly pleasant. Although I didn't see the expected sea of magnolias, I discovered the charm of spring in unexpected places.
