Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai: the ideal choice for families and leisure On Friday, the family suddenly decided to stay at the Shanghai Pudong Shangri-La Hotel for the weekend. At first I didn't have high expectations for this place which opened in 1998, was renovated in 2009 and is not a family hotel. However, the experience of staying here this weekend was better than I expected. 1. Hotel hardware and landscape The hotel is divided into Pujiang Building and Zijin Building. Pujiang Building enjoys a first-line river view. Although the rooms are a bit old, as soon as you step into the lobby, you can feel the beige and gold retro European decoration style, which is full of the flavor of old money. The river view from the room is absolutely amazing, and you can enjoy the real old Bund section. Compared with the North Bund section of Hongkou where the Kempinski is located, the scenery is more charming. The Zijin Building is newly renovated, but the river view will be partially blocked by the Pujiang Building. This time we chose the Pujiang Building Deluxe River View Room, and the view experience was intoxicating. 2. Parent-child facilities and surrounding environment The hotel does not have many parent-child facilities and activities. There is only a small children's playground on the 6th floor of Zijin Building, which is open until 6 pm. But the surrounding environment is very suitable for parent-child travel. You can walk to the riverside, where you can take your kids for a walk and enjoy a leisurely coffee time. The surrounding shopping and dining are also extremely convenient, and Super Brand Mall and IFC are within walking distance. 3. Service and dining experience The service continued Shangri-La's usual high standards, and the staff were warm and thoughtful. The breakfast has a wide variety and tastes delicious. Although the food is scattered and not very convenient to take, it is loved by children. When we checked in, we were on the 29th floor and the room included afternoon tea from 2-4pm and dinner from 5:30-7:30pm. There are rich dishes for afternoon tea and dinner, and children especially like the pudding which is sweet but not greasy and melts in the mouth. 4. Recommended nearby activities There are many attractions near the hotel, including Pudong Art Museum, Oriental Pearl Tower, Ocean Aquarium, Disney Flagship Store and Super Brand Mall. We took the children to the Pudong Art Museum in the afternoon. Adult tickets are 150 yuan on weekends, and children aged 6 and under or 1.2 meters or under are free. There are many wonderful exhibitions in the museum, such as Cao Fei's Tidal Cosmic Convergence and Glorious Times, Spanish Past in the Prado Museum, A Century of Rhapsody: Surrealist Masterpieces of the National Gallery of Scotland, Xu Bing's Gravity Theater, etc. After dinner, take a stroll through the Riverside Green Park, admire the bright lights and beautiful cruise ships on the other side of the Huangpu River, feel the gentle summer breeze, and enjoy delicious ice cream at the Haagen-Dazs store by the river. The next morning, we went to the swimming pool on the 5th floor. The swimming pool is 25 meters long, with the shallowest being 1.2 meters and the deepest being 1.5 meters. You can also look up at the Pearl Tower from the swimming pool. 5. Special Tips 1. Sound insulation/sanitation: The sound insulation is good, which can effectively isolate external noise and provide a quiet rest environment; the sanitation conditions are excellent, and the rooms and public areas are clean and tidy. 2. Room type/layout: The room type is well-planned and spacious. The river view room has a wide view and can fully appreciate the beautiful scenery of Lujiazui. 3. Supplies/Facilities: The supplies are of high quality and the facilities are complete. Although the rooms in Pujiang Building are a little old, it does not affect the use. 4. Per capita consumption: The price varies according to the room type and included services, and is generally at a medium-to-high level. Considering the services provided and surrounding facilities, the price-performance ratio is acceptable. 5. Other tips: You can choose your favorite room type by booking in advance; you can learn about the service hours of the hotel when checking in; there are many attractions in the surrounding area, so you can plan your itinerary in advance.
