Zhenguan Mirror

The Zhenguan Mirror—A Grand Exhibition on the History and Culture of the Tang Dynasty will be held at the Minhang Museum from January 23 to May 5, 2025. This exhibition aims to showcase Emperor Taizong of Tang (Li Shimin) and the Zhenguan era of his reign. The Zhenguan era represents a period of political clarity, economic prosperity, and cultural flourishing in the early Tang Dynasty. It laid the foundation for the subsequent golden age of the Tang Dynasty and had a profound impact on Chinese and even world history. The exhibition is divided into four sections: The Founding of the Tang Dynasty, The Rise of Prosperity, The Splendor of the Silk Road, and The Legacy of a Flourishing Age. The exhibits span from the Northern Zhou Dynasty to the middle and late Tang Dynasty, including 132 pieces (sets) of cultural relics such as the epitaph of Yuchi Jingde, the Smiling Ladies, painted pottery figurines, and gilded silver pots. The exhibition presents the historical landscape of the early Tang Dynasty from various perspectives, including political systems, social customs, cultural exchanges, and historical evolution.
