The Victory Cinema, with a history of nearly 100 years, has been transformed into a multi-story mobile "spaceship." From the moment you get your ticket from the retro tram, a journey through time and space begins. 1️⃣ On the first floor, you can see a clip from Georges Méliès' "A Trip to the Moon" and an automatic piano. This silent film shoots into the future, perhaps a metaphor for tonight's music shooting into the future? 2️⃣ On the second floor is Yu Yang Wang's work "Moon." The colorful moon in the projection seems illusory, but it is real. 3️⃣ The third floor is the main concert venue, with classical piano and various light and shadow multimedia fusion. The pianist even switches to another piano halfway through the performance, or leaves the piano to dance with the dancer. A man in black breaks in halfway through, simulating the sound of rain... It seems to materialize Song Siheng's dreams and thoughts, and you follow him on a journey through the universe. The arrangement of the music has an experimental "post-rock" feel. The opening "Reminiscence" is quiet and romantic, "Light of Shanghai" is an intense explosion, followed by "Echo" which returns to calm, and the melodious harp in "Air" seems to be a tribute to nature and life. It was only at the curtain call that I learned that electronic musician Yan Jun was also one of the creators. He is also the producer of Weiwei Zhang's latest album "Shamuli." I also saw a Bill Evans vinyl record "Waltz for Debby." The props were very thoughtful. 4️⃣ On the fourth floor, a giant moon "floats" on the roof, and you can see the "planet" of the concert venue through the porthole. 🎙️ I like Song Siheng's opening monologue: "I once had a dream. It was the last day on Earth. I drove a spaceship away from it and wandered to another planet. The extraterrestrial civilization wanted to know what Earth was, what humans were. I was speechless because I didn't understand the alien language, and I couldn't recount the past of Earth. Then I walked to the piano and started playing. I used music to show the extraterrestrial civilization twelve moments of Earth, about the past of Earth and humans, what they saw, what they heard, what they feared, what they loved, their hopes and sorrows, what they felt during the day, and what they dreamed of at night..." 🌌 And his curtain call speech took the concert even further, and it was extremely romantic: "For humans to reach a higher civilization, they must break out of Earth, go to the universe, and become a multi-planet species.
