This hotel is a great choice for budget travelers and students visiting Shanghai.

Shanghai Marriott Hotel Oriental Bay is located on a peninsula in the middle of Shanghai's "Fish", with a unique location and many nearby attractions, parks and museums, making it suitable for families with children or those looking for a weekend getaway. The public areas are very distinctive, with a 1,300-year-old olive tree transplanted from Spain at the entrance of the lobby. The pool is also quite beautiful, with the bright indoor layout complementing the olive tree next to the outdoor pool. The reflection in the water is particularly beautiful when the sun is shining. The rooms are very business-oriented, with a small balcony that offers nice views of the lake. One thing to note is that the hotel has three floors of guest rooms, each of which is very long. If you are far from the elevator, it can be quite a walk. In addition, some of the room facilities, especially some of the hardware, do not seem to be branded, and the shower head bracket in the shower fell off during my stay. The quality does not seem to be up to standard. The service is quite good, basically at the level of a 5-star hotel, whether it is dining (breakfast and Chinese restaurant), recreation center, front desk, or room service, all are up to standard. It is better than many 4-star Marriott hotels. The dining is also good, the breakfast is quite rich, and the ingredients are also quite good. The dinner at Yanxuan Chinese Restaurant is also great, the yellow croaker is very fresh, and several signature dishes are also well made. Overall, this is a cost-effective 5-star hotel, and it is a good choice if you happen to be passing by or going to Fengxian for business.
