In 1936, the Asian Society's Shanghai Museum published a green book similar to today's guidebooks. On the first page, you can see a watercolor painting by the then museum director, Mr. Suade, which echoes the first work of the current exhibition. The wallpaper design of the exhibition is also derived from the cover of a book called 'Overview of Chinese Art' by Ferguson. The central area of the space is composed of five different-shaped display stands, each telling the story of an individual. The diverse arrangement also echoes the exhibition's concept - the so-called historical narrative is not linear but a mosaic pieced together by different voices and individual experiences. In addition to exhibiting primary archival documents, the exhibition also features the involvement of two contemporary artists: Zhang Ruyi, a representative artist in installation, sculpture, and mixed media; and Chen Ronghui, a photographer who once served as a documentary news reporter. Whispers of the Wind: The third floor of the Bund Art Museum, formerly the Royal Asiatic Society (R.A.S.), was once a library. The introduction to this exhibition is designed to be a series of small cards, echoing the library.
