| 'The Rhythm of Painting and Poetry' - The Artistic and Poetic Heart of Zao Wou-Ki. 🌟 Previously, I visited the centennial retrospective exhibition of Zao Wou-Ki at the China Academy of Art Museum, which involved various art forms and was indeed quite impressive. This time, the exhibition at Shanghai Jiushi Art Museum takes a different approach, focusing on the theme of painting and poetry, showcasing the collection of prints and poems created in collaboration between Zao Wou-Ki and poets, adding a touch of poetry to the rainy city. 🍃 The exhibition features over 90 prints created by Zao Wou-Ki from the late 1940s to 2000, accompanied by more than 60 illustrated poems. This allows visitors to appreciate the artist's different creative styles over the years and gain a deeper understanding of his imagery through the corresponding literature. The exhibition hall is divided into five areas: Poetic Imagery, Observing and Contemplating, Boundless, Reading Area, and Video. 🔎 The opening piece 'Henri Michaux Reads Eight Lithographs by Zao Wou-Ki' leaves a deep impression. Michaux wrote eight poems corresponding to Zao Wou-Ki's paintings, marking the beginning of their acquaintance and long-lasting friendship. 'Glory of Images and Poetic Art' in collaboration with Roger Caillois shifts from previous monochrome ink to color creations. The prints created for Jean Lescure's poem 'Pond' have a touch of ink painting's charm.
