Shanghai's millennium-old town - Nanxiang Old Street

Shanghai Jiading Nanxiang Old Street is built along two rivers, with houses constructed along the banks, featuring distinctive streets such as Peace Street, Republic Street, People's Street, and Liberation Street. The main attractions of Nanxiang Old Street include: Nanxiang Twin Towers; these are a pair of historic brick towers with a wood-like structure in the style of a building, currently located in front of the original Nanxiang Temple gate. They are seven stories high with eight sides, standing 11 meters tall, small and exquisite, with a delicate structure, and are the only pair of brick towers in the country. Liang Dynasty Wells: Two ancient wells in front of the Twin Towers, octagonal in shape, with a history of over 1,500 years. The wells are 3.5 meters deep and never dry up. In 2008, they were discovered during an archaeological excavation and are now covered with glass. Yunxiang Temple: Founded in the fourth year of the Liang Tianjian era (505 AD), it was rebuilt in 2000 at its original site. The reconstructed Yunxiang Temple is one of the few Tang-style temple complexes in the Jiangnan region. In addition, the Nanxiang Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall, Nanxiang Steamed Bun Cultural Experience Hall, and Chen Junqi Memorial Hall on the old street are also great places to visit, and tasting the Nanxiang steamed buns is an essential experience.
