This century-old church on the Bund is so beautiful

🏛There is a century-old "red chapel" - Holy Trinity Church - on Hankou Road, Jiujiang Road and Jiangxi Road near the Bund. 🏛Holy Trinity Church is a church dedicated to Anglicans in the British diaspora. A small church was first built in 1847. After the original church fell into disrepair, the cathedral was rebuilt from 1866 to 1869 based on the design of architect George Gilbert Scott (1811-1878). It has a neo-Gothic exterior and was the largest and most magnificent Christian church in Shanghai's early days. In 1875, the church was upgraded to the Anglican Cathedral of North China Diocese, and in 1893, a towering bell tower was added on the left side of the church. 🏛【Architectural style】 The entire church is clad in red bricks both inside and outside, so the Holy Trinity Cathedral is also commonly known as the "Red Chapel" and the "English Church". There are pointed arch corridors on both sides of the church, inside and outside.
