Feng Li's 'Phantom Landscapes'

Exhibition period: 2023.10.21 to 2024.2.25 'Feng Li: Phantom Landscapes' invites viewers to experience the fantastical, subtle, and true details of contemporary society through Feng Li's lens. Feng Li's work has been widely acclaimed around the world, from Paris to Tokyo, from Shanghai to his hometown Chengdu. This former state-owned media employee has developed a unique visual language and has earned a well-deserved international reputation in the fields of street and fashion photography. After more than thirty years of refinement, his creative practice has evolved with the medium of photography, and he continues to pursue his unique artistic direction. His works are characterized by bright flashes, vivid colors, and a keen observation and capture of the extraordinary in everyday experiences, making them highly recognizable. The exhibition is curated by international photography expert Holly Roussell and presented according to different themes. It will be the first major institutional solo exhibition dedicated to Feng Li's photographic practice. The exhibition will display more than 200 photographs, including his iconic 'White Night' series, which will be presented in a new context. 'Feng Li: Phantom Landscapes' highlights the various stages of Feng Li's dynamic artistic journey, expressing the authenticity of life. 'In a society where image manufacturing is ubiquitous, Feng Li's work stands out for its unique charm. He has a knack for tasting subtle irony and conveying the surreal truths of everyday life. He loves the aesthetic potential of color and is adept at discerning the most inconspicuous details.' — Rong Siyu, Curator 'Feng Li: Phantom Landscapes' exhibition site, Fotografiska Center for Photographic Art 'Feng Li: Phantom Landscapes' exhibition site, Fotografiska Center for Photographic Art Full Bloom, 2023 ©️Feng Li 2:45, 2016 ©️Feng Li Butterfly Man, 2007 ©️Feng Li About the Artist: Feng Li is an artist who is adept at discovering the special in the ordinary. He has uncovered the bizarre side of reality, presenting ordinary life scenes in an extraordinary way. He wanders through the city, instinctively observing those familiar people, objects, and scenes with an intuitive approach, and directly illuminates those incredible moments with a flash. These scenes, sliced by the flash, are ultimately transformed into something strange and unexpected, frozen in time.
