[0°C+ Street Strolling in Cangcheng] Walking in Cangcheng on such a cold day was truly freezing! I've been to Cangcheng so many times that I seem to be a bit tired of it. Perhaps I'm coming here with the intention of taking photos, but it's becoming increasingly difficult. Luckily, the sunset was kind that day, and the light and shadows near Dacang Bridge were quite stunning. I only took a few photos and then wandered off... Along the Shihe River, there are usually a few people checking in and drinking coffee here, but that day I only saw three or four groups hurriedly passing by. The wind on the bridge was really cold. If you're going to visit here, it's best to find a riverside coffee shop or teahouse to enjoy the scenery, rather than street-shopping in winter. [New Changes in Cangcheng] I haven't been here for over six months. In addition to the rice shop, Songjiang Handmade Cloth Exhibition Hall, Drama Memorial Hall, and Bookstore, there are now several new coffee shops and a noodle shop. There are a lot more places to go on weekends. Parking is now charged, but thankfully it's only 6 yuan per 6 hours. - [Story of Cangcheng] Songjiang's history as a prefectural capital dates back to the Tang Dynasty. Its heyday was due to the Songjiang homespun cloth and grain transport during the Ming and Qing dynasties, which "clothed the nation." This area served as the largest grain storage facility and the starting point for grain transport during the Ming and Qing dynasties, earning it the name Cangcheng. Later, during the mid-Qing Dynasty, over half of Songjiang Prefecture's grain was stored in Cangcheng, making it a major transportation hub. Later, during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, the canal silted up, prompting a shift to sea transportation. Songjiang Prefecture's grain transport center gradually shifted to the port of Shanghai, and Cangcheng's prosperity declined.
