Xujiahui Church, located in Xujiahui Source Scenic Area, Xuhui District, Shanghai, is the cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Shanghai. The official name is 'St. Ignatius Cathedral'. The bishop's house and the nun's house of the Catholic Diocese of Shanghai are located on the side of the church. The style is French Gothic Revival during the Neoclassical period. The construction started in the 30th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1904), and the main hall was completed in September 1910. The whole building is five stories high and is made of brick and wood. The tops of the two sides of the main hall are Gothic bell towers, with a pointed top 50 meters high. Xujiahui Academy, located in the core area of Xujiahui Source Scenic Area, was designed by the famous British architect David Chipperfield. It was closed for renovation in 19 and reopened on January 1, 23. In the first month of reopening, 80,000 people visited the museum, borrowed and returned 80,000 books, and sold 8,000 cups of coffee. The structure is divided into a back-shaped structure with bookshelves and reading/self-study areas as the core. The atrium runs through three floors, with bright light. The 3D printed Tushanwan China Arch 'Gate of Enlightenment' stands on the south side, which is the most eye-catching symbol of the academy. A long table is placed in the middle, with readers sitting on both sides.
