The hotel was newly reopened back then so we were rather excited to visit it. The hotel is located above Paradigm mall which has been opened for years. And most tourist have been hoping for the hotel to be completed. Finally in November 2024 it opened! Though we felt that the buffet spread wasn’t a lot and the seating area might be enough if the hotel is in full capacity. But for the price point, there is not complaining! Chagee Cafe

#malaysia I was over at Sutera mall and decided to hop over to this beautiful cafe called Bawang Cha Ji in Johor Bahru. Which kinda blew my mind how pretty it is compared to typical cafes or stores in JB. It felt like I have step into another world. Almost like in Kyoto. Because it was a Monday the cafe was really quiet too. I would have brought my laptop along next time. While Chagee is still quite expensive in Malaysia, I think if it’s dining in at this cafe, I would gladly pay for the price and environment. Because this cafe is unlike those togo shops. (Cafe is outside the mall.)

They are open everyday from 11am until 10pm, Be sure to try their mille crepe cakes if not you can also order delivery too. It is also a florist shop, and they have cats roaming in the cafe. My favourite memories at this place is when the cats jump up behind my and land on my table and I managed to catch her. The interior of the cafe is so pleasing to the eyes and you can really feel the calmness sitting inside here. This cafe is on the same street as Hako Hotel at Skudai.

On first glance, you would ask yourself why would there be so much youngsters hanging around an old mall like Sutera mall, but you would also quickly realise that they are all heading outside. Right behind Sutera mall is the chill day night market, where you can find shops selling that are from across South east Asia like exotic meat, xxl fried chicken and coconut ice cream just to name a few

Hock Kee Kopitiam

This place is located at Sutera at JB- Hock Kee Kopitiam Love the ambiance of this place! This place is so spacious, bright and clean. There are wide variety of food options as well, and I think the prices here are pretty reasonable! I’ve tried quite a bit and will list down what is the must try! 1) Fried mee Siam with Rendang- the fried mee Siam is the best dish out of all from this place! The fried bee hoon is nicely done, not too dry and it’s best to eat with the Sambal! Rendang is good as well, tasty. 2) The charcoal polo bun with kaya. This is nice as well, love the butter in between the bun and the kaya is served at the side, you can dip however much you want. 3) Portuguese egg tart. Can you see how thick is this egg tart? The filling is so smooth and creamy, not too sweet as well, the crust is very crispy. Can taste the layering of the crust. Oh and they also have a wide variety of vegetarian food as well. Bon appetite!

chanced upon this cheap hotel while we were targeting a one night stay near paradigm hotel (1+km away - grab rm5). we paid rm72 for a queen room with window just in case we need to see the weather to prepare what to go out. but the window also serves as a medium for noise to penetrate as our room is on level 1, not too far from the ground level. our neighbour was talking on the phone till 12plus midnight and smoke thereafter came into our room near the connecting door. however the service made it up for these shortcomings as they remembered we asked about the pasam malam last night and checked with us again upon checking out. hairdryer was also available for loan if necessary. #urbanexplorer #境外遊

🇲🇾I’m usually quite picky when it comes to oyster dishes—if they’re not cooked properly, they can taste overly fishy and spoil my appetite.

I’ve never been a fan of Oyster Mee Sua, but after trying the one at Happiness Wheel Cake, it’s now one of my favorites whenever I visit JB. They have several outlets in JB, and this particular one is located in Sutera Mall, Johor Bahru.

While their wheel cake is the highlight, I definitely think the spotlight should also be on their Mee Sua—it’s not to be missed!

#malaysiatrip We happened to be in the Sutera Mall running errands and needed to fix our lunch. We walked past this Taiwanese restaurant and it looks promising. We love how spacious and brightly lit it is with the walls of window. The food was pretty good too! We ordered a few dishes to share including the pig intestines mee sua , braised pork rice and a scallion oil noodle. My best stay at Hyatt Place JB

#traveldiaries This is a super nice hotel in Johor Bahru and it is inside a shopping center. We like it and also have book a few stay here. We prefer Austin area but the hotels there are not so new so we don’t mind the travelling time. We really like the rooms at Hyatt Place Johor Bahru and we always book 2 rooms for our stay. Each room has a sofa and it is large and comfortable to sleep there. There is no bathtub but it is ok for us since we prefer standing shower. The hotel is connected to the mall and there is a shortcut to the mall but this door is only open from 10am to 10pm.

#traveldiaries The children like the swimming pool here and as we travel in a family with grand parents and children so choosing a suitable hotel is important to us. The swimming pool at Hyatt Place Johor Bahru is great for us and the direct linked to the shopping center also suit our itinerary. The lobby at level 7 is spacious and has plenty of seating area. There is a small gym just next to the gym and sometimes we will use it but we prefer the swimming pool. The shopping center also has many facilities for the children too like ice-skating and archery.

#traveldiaries Traveling into johor bahru Malaysia soon? Then, you should not miss this famous confectionery shop called Ming Ang Confectionery. Step into this shop, and you will be tempted to grab a basket full of local goodies, snacks, candies and local baked goods. Rows and rows of peanut candy, coconut candy, crispy egg rolls, prawn crackers, etc can all be found here and they make such great souvenirs/snacks for friends and family. You also can't walk out of Ming Ang Confectionery, without getting your hands on their freshly baked local delights. A long snake queue can be constantly found inside the shop and everyone is buying their traditional heong peah, with a flaky crust and a sweet chewy Maltose filling in the middle. Another hot favourite is their char siew shao bao, which is sold warm and fresh with lots of char siew filling. My personal favourite is the creamy milk biscuit, which was buttery and oh so fragant. If you see a box iof their baked pineapple balls, do get it, you won't regret it. Drop by Ming Ang and check this place out.

#johorbahrutrip Very cosy place to chill for an evening tea. Cake is delicious. Had their earl grey blueberry cheese cake there and bought home burnt cheesecake and earl grey grape. All tasted delicious. Will definitely want to return here again to chill out. Quiet and calm place with soft music at the background. Staff is very polite, and food is quite nice although limited option. Cheese cake are kInot to be missed!

Staff were friendly, informative and the breakfast provided was more than adequate for this brand. This was one hotel where I didn't have to adjust the AC and didn't perspire under a thick duvet cover. Environment friendly thought was everywhere from the wooden doorknob sign to the bathroom amenities. The TV was good with casting ability from your phone. Only thing that didn't work was the alarm clock but who uses that anyway? Definitely a hotel to recommend.

MUST GO Alpaca Cafe in JB!

Recently there is a viral reel showing this unique and interesting cafe. It is none other than As Clouds Cafe where you get to see Alpaca when you dine in over there! Everybody who dines in need to get an item on the menu to stay for max of 90 mins. After paying, you will get a cup of carrots to feed the alpaca. This is pretty reasonable in my opinion. The alpacas are so cute but do take note that they can be aggressive as they will keep roaming around to find carrots. They may even mistake your sweet potato fries as their food and gobble them up. Pro tip: go 15-20mins before opening hours to be the first batch to get in. Else you have to wait long. #travelanywhere
