Huis Ten Bosch: A Top Amusement Park in Kyushu

Huis Ten Bosch is considered one of the top three amusement parks in Kyushu. Located in Nagasaki, Huis Ten Bosch boasts a serene environment near the train station. From the station, you can already catch a glimpse of the fairytale-like Okura Hotel and parts of the Huis Ten Bosch park, which builds up the anticipation. This time, I stayed at the Huis Ten Bosch Nikko Hotel, which is about a 10-minute walk from the station and conveniently connected to the park. It takes just one minute to walk from the hotel’s main entrance to the connecting road leading to the park. After entering through the main gate of Huis Ten Bosch, you can easily return to the hotel for a quick rest when you’re tired, and then head back out to enjoy the fireworks and light shows at night. It’s incredibly convenient. Since my main goal was to visit the newly opened Miffy Wonder Square (opened on June 21), it was my first destination upon entering the park. After passing through the Teddy Bear Kingdom at the entrance, I took the shuttle to Miffy Wonder Square (shuttles run every 15 minutes on average). At the third stop, there’s a large Miffy sign pointing the way. Once inside the Miffy area, you’ll find various shops and eateries themed around Miffy, as well as exclusive Miffy merchandise. While Miffy items are available in shops outside the Miffy area, the special editions sold within the Miffy zone are unique, so make sure to save your budget for shopping here! 😆 There are only two rides in the area, so the queues tend to be concentrated. On the day I visited, the waiting time was around 30-45 minutes. Surrounding the rides are different shops selling unique items, making it a day of indulgence. There are also restaurants offering adorable Miffy-themed meals, as well as stores selling simple take-away options. Food trucks scattered around the area sell desserts, drinks, and snacks, often featuring Miffy designs on the containers or food itself. 😁 The park has plenty of seating areas surrounded by flower beds where you can rest and enjoy your food. 💞 Recommended for Miffy fans: If you’re a Miffy enthusiast, this is a must-visit destination. Being surrounded by Miffy everywhere feels like pure happiness! 💕 At night, make sure to reserve time to watch the fireworks and light shows. The fireworks can be seen from within the Miffy area, but the light show requires a short 5-6 minute walk to the plaza outside the clock tower. The light show features constantly changing lights and patterns with floral themes, and it’s absolutely stunning. 😻 After the show, you can head towards the riverside and take the shuttle to other areas. Booking a hotel nearby or within the park is convenient, but keep in mind that even if you stay at the on-site Hotel Europe, admission tickets are not included and must be purchased separately. Staying at Nikko or Okura hotels offers similar convenience. 🏖️ Environment/Facilities: Located by the seaside, the area is very comfortable. It’s perfect for cycling enthusiasts, as there are bike paths nearby. The park also offers four-person bikes suitable for families.
