The beautiful Sanya Wuzhizhou Island tourist area in Hainan

Wuzhizhou Island was formerly known as Guzizhou Island or Niujizhou Island, both names having different origins. Legend has it that there was a river in Sanya, which became severely polluted due to the slash-and-burn farming practices of the mountain people upstream, causing the vegetation to be severely damaged. Whenever flash floods occurred, the mud, rocks, and gravel from the mountains would pour down, entering the sea through the Tengqiao River, and turning the clear and blue waters murky. The Dragon King of the Sea reported this to the Jade Emperor. Consequently, the Jade Emperor used his divine sword to cut off a section of the mountain ridge at Qiongnanling, seven kilometers away, and commanded two divine bulls to block the river mouth. However, along the way, someone discovered them and revealed the divine plan, causing the bulls to stop moving and turn into two huge rocks, while the mountain ridge became an island. Because of this magical legend, the island was named Guzizhou Island, and the two huge rocks were called the Sister Stones. Later, when Sanya City was established in Hainan, government departments were verifying local place names, and local fishermen provided a theory that the island resembled a marine creature called 'Wuzhi'. Consequently, the island was renamed Wuzhizhou Island and has been used to this day. What a beautiful legend, you must come and see it if you have the chance!
