Wat Wang Wiwekharam (Luang Pho Uttama), Kanchanaburi Province

Wat Wang Wiwekharam (Old) or Wat Luang Pho Uttama is a temple that Luang Pho Uttama, along with Karen and Mon migrants, jointly built in 1953 at Ban Wang Kalang, Sangkhla Buri District, Kanchanaburi Province, near the Thai-Burmese border, approximately 220 kilometers from Mueang Kanchanaburi District. At first, the temple only had a hut, a pavilion, and a monastery. The name Wat Luang Pho Uttama is also a name that the villagers called it. Before, Wat Wang Wiwekharam was located on a high hill called Sam Prasob, which is the point where three rivers, the Songkhla River, the Beekli River, and the Rantee River, flow together. Later, in 1962, the Department of Religious Affairs received permission to use the name Wat Wang Wiwekharam. At that time, it was named after the original district, Wang Ka-Sangkhla Buri District, but later it was merged into a sub-district before being changed to Sangkhla Buri District. Kanchanaburi Province in 1965. Later, the construction of the Khao Laem Dam or Vajiralongkorn Dam, which flooded the old Sangkhlaburi District, including this temple, so the temple was moved to a hill instead.
