Itinerary: St. Michael's and All Angels Church - The Oldest Stone Church in Sabah

#springitinerary 9.00 am - We arrived at St. Michael's And All Angels Church in Sandakan, Sabah. We chose to visit this Christian church because this church is one of the main attractions for visitors in Sandakan. 9.10 am - We visited around the church area. At this time, we were unlucky because the entrance to this church is not yet open to the public. So, we were not able to visit inside the church building. This church is located in the center of Sandakan, Sabah Malaysia. This church was founded by William Henry Elton who is also the owner of St. Micheal's Secondary School located next to the church. This church was designed by New Zealander Mr. B.W. Mountfort from imported wood, bricks until finally the stone was sourced from Buli Sim-Sim nearby while the white stone windows and doors were from Hong Kong. This church also suffered major damage during World War II in 1940. The stained glass windows in this church known as the 'Window of Rememberance and The Friendships Windows' were donated by relatives of Australian Prisoners of War (POW) as a mark of commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II and appreciation to the local people. 10.00 am - We move to the city center for the next location.
