Gothic architecture that combines Renaissance and Mudéjar elements

Spain Westward Journey ~ Salamanca (Region) Casa de las Conchas (House of Shells) is a Gothic-style building. It was built at the end of the 15th century, but also has Renaissance and Mudejar elements, in the Isabella art style. This civil building attracts the attention of tourists with its facade covered with more than three hundred shells. In the 18th century it suffered cracks that led to the upper part being remodeled, leaving the shells that adorned the rest of the façade. A notable feature is the Gothic coat of arms with fleur-de-lis over the entrance door. Today, the building houses the Salamanca Public Library. #2024TravelReview #SpainTravel #Castile-León
