[Hasedera Temple, Nara]

#FuriTabiWinter This temple is the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, located in Hatsuse, Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture. During the Heian period, pilgrimages to Hasedera Temple were popular among aristocrats. Hasedera Temple appears in many classical works of literature, such as "The Tale of Genji" and "The Pillow Book." During the Edo period, it prospered as it attracted the reverence of the Tokugawa family and received their patronage. It consists of three buildings, upper, middle and lower, and a round lantern called Hase-gata is hung from the ceiling. 📍Eleven-headed Kannon Bodhisattva Every spring and autumn, you can enter the main hall and touch its feet as a special viewing. It is one of the largest wooden structures in Japan. 📍Outer stage jutting out from the main hall Like Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto, there is an outer stage jutting out from the main hall.
