Saipan is the largest island in the Northern Mariana Islands, located in the western Pacific Ocean, and is an overseas territory of the United States. Saipan is long and narrow, 20 km long, 9 km at its widest point, and covers an area of about 120 square kilometers. The island is mostly hilly, with sandy beaches on the west coast, coral reefs offshore, and rocky reefs on the east coast.
