St. Gallen Abbey in Switzerland - the "European Study" is magnificent.

As the journey was coming to an end, it reached its climax. When we were almost leaving Switzerland, we found a world heritage site at the border of Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Liechtenstein, which was magnificent, dazzling and sparkling, and it was another treasure. This treasure city is called "St. Gallen". It is located in the valley of two high mountains in eastern Switzerland, between Lake Constance and the Alps. In fact, it is not a small city. With a population of over 70,000, it can be said to be the largest city in northeastern Switzerland and was once the richest place in Switzerland. The establishment of the city of St. Gallen has deep roots in an Irish missionary named Gallen. After his death in 720 AD, a monastery named after him was built. The monastery later became a center of learning, and by the Middle Ages it was famous throughout Europe. The Abbey of St. Gall is arranged in a horseshoe shape, and the main entrance looks particularly majestic against the backdrop of two 68-meter-high, identical towers❾. Due to the continuous reconstruction during the development process, almost all important stages in the history of architectural art are prominently reflected in this monastery: Carolingian capital decorations in the early Middle Ages❼, Gothic ancient monastery architectural layout, the overall masterpiece of Baroque architectural style. The interior is decorated with beautiful murals and there are sculptures on almost every surface. There are few churches in the world that have the same blue-green and beige color combination, which is really a "unique" ❷. I rushed here from Zurich early in the morning. The door of the church seemed to have just been opened. There were few people there, so the church looked more solemn and tall; it was quieter, so it looked more sacred and dignified. Witnessing the exquisite murals and intricate sculptures with your own eyes, you will feel amazed. You need to buy a ticket to enter the "Monastery Library" which is integrated with the cathedral. As soon as I put on the huge cotton slippers, I instantly felt the heaviness of this oldest library in Europe⓱ (picture below). The Rococo-style hall of the monastery library is decorated magnificently. The library has a history of more than 800 years and has a collection of more than 100,000 books. It preserves hundreds of priceless parchment manuscripts from the 9th to the 13th century AD. The Bibles in the museum are all handwritten word by word, and they are rare treasures in the world. This is the world's highest-level medieval library. The bookshelves are filled with iron cages, and the books displayed behind the cages are national treasures. A small library with signed murals on the roof and around it❶⓭, an ancient globe⓰, and an exquisite escalator for retrieving books⓮. Everything here makes people feel that this is a palace of art. The quiet air in the library flows slowly, and the books that have stood for thousands of years still shine with moving brilliance and are extremely gorgeous. Taking a walk around the cathedral, library and completely medieval old town of St. Gallen Abbey is like finding a huge treasure of Switzerland and also like experiencing a special time travel. In this small town, the breeze is blowing gently and I am walking slowly and carelessly. Looking at the floating clouds in the sky, they seem to brush away the vanity of the world and send the complications of this world away. On that long road, watch the changes of time.
