Visit the Baoshi Mountain Trail

Baoshi Mountain, standing at an altitude of 303.2 meters, is surrounded by Jinguashi, making it visible from any angle in Jinguashi. Conversely, Baoshi Mountain serves as the best vantage point to overlook Jinguashi. The name Baoshi Mountain dates back to 1896 when Japan operated mining activities in Jinguashi. At that time, miners had fixed working hours, but clocks and watches were luxuries that most people couldn't afford. To address this, the mining company installed a time-reporting device on the mountain, which emitted sounds at regular intervals to announce the time. This mountain was thus named "Baoshi Mountain" (Time-Reporting Mountain), and its Japanese pronunciation is "Sairenzan." The sound of the time-reporting device was loud and resembled the sound of a conch shell, earning it the nickname "Water Conch Mountain." Today, Baoshi Mountain has become a must-visit hidden gem in Jinguashi. Visitors can take the hiking trail located behind and to the right of Quanji Temple to reach the scenic platform. From there, you can enjoy panoramic views of the natural landscapes, cultural settlements, and mining relics of Jinguashi and the Shui Nan Dong area. 📍Address: 224 Ruifang District, New Taipei City Transportation: Take Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Bus 965 to Jinguashi (Gold Museum), then transfer to Bus 1062 and get off at Quanji Temple.
