Museum in the city gate

Jinghai Gate is located on the west bank of the river outside the east gate of Rugao. It is part of the original ancient city wall of Rugao and the only passage in and out of the city through the east gate. There are two layers of brackets and flying eaves on the city gate arch, which is an antique building in the style of the Ming Dynasty. Now the Rugao Silk Carpet Art Museum has been opened inside Jinghai Gate, displaying many exquisite silk carpets based on famous Chinese and foreign paintings. As a national intangible cultural heritage, the Rugao silk carpet is regarded as a state gift and is famous throughout the world.
