The city of 100 Spires

#myhiddengems This capital city of Normandy is a beautiful port city set by the river Seine. Over a weekend, I was looking for travel ideas for Paris. Just to get away from the rush. Rouen filled the spot perfectly. With under 2 hours of a comfortable train ride. It ensured there was plenty of time that remains for exploration on a weekend trip. The city has several heritage and architectural marvels to visit. Particularly boasting several impressive churches and cathedrals. The half timbered houses and the cobbled streets give it such a medieval feel. The notre dame of Rouen is amongst the most famous of structures, whose cast iron spires not only make it the tallest cathedral in France but are visible from any corner of the city. More famously it was also part of Calude monet's work who did several representations of this cathedral. It doesn't stop there, the same cathedral is also the resting place of Richard the Lionheart. But that is just the cathedral, this fine city offers a plethora of other sightseeing options in the form of museum of fine arts, St Catherine hill, botanical garden, Le gros horlog, church of st.
