🏝️ A Perfect Day on Rottnest Island: Serene Beaches and Quokkas

Just a short ferry ride from Perth, Rottnest Island (Wadjemup) is a paradise of turquoise waters, white-sand beaches, and its most famous residents—quokkas! 🐻️ Whether you’re here for the coastal scenery, snorkeling, or just to unwind, Rottnest is the ultimate island escape. 🌟 Top Things to Do on Rottnest: * 🐻 Quokka Spotting – These adorable marsupials are known as the "world’s happiest animals." You’ll find them around the main settlement and bike paths—just remember to respect their space! * 🚴 Explore by Bike – With no private cars on the island, cycling is the best way to see the stunning coastline, hidden coves, and scenic lookouts. Bike rentals are available at the ferry terminal. * 🏖️ Relax at the Beaches – The island has over 60 beaches and 20 bays! Must-visit spots include The Basin (great for swimming), Little Salmon Bay (top for snorkeling), and Pinky Beach, home to the iconic Bathurst Lighthouse. * 🌊 Snorkeling & Wildlife Watching – Rottnest’s crystal-clear waters are home to vibrant marine life, including colorful fish and sea turtles. Snorkeling at Little Armstrong Bay and Parker Point is a must! 🍹 End the Day at Isola Bar e Cibo
After a day of adventure, Isola is the perfect place to unwind. Located right by the water, this Italian-inspired bar offers fresh seafood, classic cocktails, and stunning sunset views over Thomson Bay. 🛥️ Getting There: * Ferry from Perth or Fremantle: Rottnest Express, SeaLink, and Rottnest Fast Ferries offer daily services (~30–45 minutes). 🚤 * By Air: Take a scenic flight for breathtaking aerial views of the island. 🚁 🎟️ Entry Fees: * The Rottnest Island admission fee is included in ferry tickets (~$30 per adult). * Bike rentals start at ~$30/day, and snorkel gear is also available for rent. 💡 Tips for Your Trip:
✅ Ferries book out quickly in peak season (Dec–Feb)—reserve in advance!
✅ Bring sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water—it gets hot in summer! ☀️
✅ There are limited shops on the island, so pack snacks if needed. Rottnest Island is the kind of place that makes you forget about time—between cycling along coastal trails, swimming in crystal-clear waters and the cute quokkas, it’s a day trip you won’t forget. #rottnestisland #quokkaselfie #perthdaytrips #beachparadise #australiatravel #isolarottnest

QUOKKAS - THE HAPPIEST ANIMALS IN THE WORLD? Quokkas, apart from a tiny colony on the Western Australia mainland, they are found only at Rottnest Island, nowhere else on Earth! These tiny lovely wild animals are said to be the happiest animal in the world! It´s thanks to their wide smile they present on their faces all the time and their friendliness. Quokkas are related to wallabies - small-sized kangaroos and they live in a big colony on Rottnest Island. They have almost no fear of humans and often they will come right up to you!:) Despite their friendly behaviour, please respect the fact, they are wild animals and it´s prohibited to touch them or feed them! Firstly, it´s dangerous for quokkas to eat humans food as well as get in touch with humans bacteria. Both can be deadly for these little creatures. Secondly, although Quokkas are very friendly, they can bite if feeling threatened. Rottnest Island is the perfect little getaway from the busy life of Perth. You can do just a one day trip or you can easily spend there a few nights. Rottnest Island covers 19km² and is just 18 kilometers off the coast of Western Australia. From Perth, it takes only 25 minutes by ferry from Fremantle Port or 45 minutes by ferry from Hillarys Boat Harbour. How much does it cost to go to Rottnest Island? The price is vary depending on which company you will use, but generally speaking, it's around 70 AUD per person one way and 100 AUD return with landing fee included. Rotto is a car-free zone, so there are no cars whatsoever. You can walk, use a tourist bus or rent a bicycle and ride around. To ride around the entire island took us around 3 hours, but with stops for a dip in crystal clear waters, you will definitely need more time! #awesomepic #couplestrip #historicallandmarks #travelinspiration #unforgettableexperiences #australia #quokka #rottnestisland #awesomepic
