DAKOTA HENRYUnited States

In Rotorua, New Zealand, we encountered unpredictable weather.

At 6:30 in the morning, a sudden rainstorm disrupted our travel plans - today we were supposed to go to Eggton Farm to experience outdoor activities. Lying in bed, I thought that today’s trip might be ruined. But when I opened my eyes again, it was already nine o'clock and the sun was smiling. It was such an unexpected surprise! We quickly woke up our family, had a quick breakfast, and prepared to leave. The hotel was only a 20-minute drive from the farm and we arrived at our destination quickly. It seems that many people choose to travel by car like us, because Rotorua’s public transportation system is indeed not very convenient. The ticket redemption process was exceptionally smooth, and after putting on our iconic stickers, we entered and waited for the show to begin. There are more than a dozen different breeds of sheep on the farm, which are graded according to their wool production. The children were very interested in these furry animals, and the sheepdogs and cute white geese also joined the performance, making the atmosphere even more cheerful. However, just as the performance ended, another downpour suddenly came, catching us off guard. The next program is to take a tractor tour of the farm and have close contact with the sheep. The wind was freezing cold and our whole family was hesitant. Seeing that everyone else had gotten on the bus, we followed suit. Ten minutes later, the sun came out again, warm and comfortable. The warmth we felt from our close encounters with sheep, alpacas and deer is beyond words. Afterwards, we boarded the tour bus and returned to the visitor center. Another storm hit on the way, and the alternating hot and cold weather was really unbearable. We quickly replenished our coffee and hot chocolate at the coffee and food store to drive away the chill in our bodies. Half an hour later, the rain subsided and we hurriedly drove back to the hotel to change clothes and take a short rest. At 4pm we headed to the Maori Cultural Village, where a war song performance, geothermal geysers and a buffet were waiting for us. The Maori cultural performances are wonderful, full of primitive power and beauty, and are well worth seeing. Despite the changeable weather, our journey was still full of joy and gain.
