Quanzhou Hidden Gem: A Secluded Temple to Escape the Crowds and Listen in Peace

🍂 Zhu Xi once exclaimed, 'This place was anciently known as the land of Buddha, where saints fill the streets'—Quanzhou, a sacred land of religion. Here lies the renowned Kaiyuan Temple, the earliest Islamic mosque, the largest martial temple in Fujian, the ever-burning Taoist temples, and ubiquitous Christian churches. Various religions coexist and flourish together here. 🍂 Quanzhou is home to numerous treasure temples, big and small, scattered throughout the streets and alleys. 🍂 My favorite is the Chengtian Temple. Although it is one of the three major temples in Quanzhou, it is less known than Kaiyuan Temple, making it a peaceful sanctuary. Upon entering, you are greeted by a row of pagodas, with Master Hongyi's Moon Terrace Hermitage on the left, and at the end, the main hall houses an ancient Buddha statue with a powerful aura. Standing outside the hall, one can hear the monks chanting, compelling you to stop and listen. Red bricks, yellow walls, green bamboo, and the universal light of Buddha make everything seem just right. 🍂 Taking a different path: If you're not too particular about gourmet food, the local snacks are unlikely to disappoint. Spend more time experiencing the local atmosphere, explore less popular spots, and avoid the crowds. PS: Quanzhou's city area is dotted with tourist electric battery cars known as 'Little White,' which you can hail and stop at will for just 2 yuan, and the service attitude is exceptionally good.
